Snow Shoveling

Just for fun! My friend was able to swing by and snap some photos of my shoveling. Something that is pretty hard to photograph by myself. So here you go. Again, this may give you a sense of scale on just how deep the snow is around my house. Nothing new has fallen for a few days, and it's been clear and crisp. -20's F. every night and right around zero for a high kind of crisp. The break is nice to be able to catch up on cleaning up from the last several storms though!

  4. Wonderful blog and videos. Did you put a skirting around your home to keep out the cold air? Keep up the great work.

    1. Yes. It's made out of snow. And it's worked great every winter so far. ;)

    2. Very interesting. I have a friend who just finished building her tiny home and moved it to Minnesota. They might have enough snow to do that. Are you worried about the snow being against your siding all the time? Or do you think the sealer/stain you put on will protect it? Do you ever have times (spring/fall) when it is cold and you don't have enough snow to have a skirt? Is the floor really cold then. I know Tumbleweeds insulates the floor but wonder if that is enough if the wind is blowing cold air all around. Thanks for your thoughts on this. Mark

    3. I'm not worried as any melting water can drain away easily and we have a generally dry climate. Generally when it's cold, we do have a lot of snow. But the floor is very well insulated anyway so I have had no issues.
