I did not modify anything, just dumped about 250 of them in there and they've been happy ever since. :) As long as your toilet is somewhere that's a comfortable room temp and not way too hot, and as long as everyone pees into the urine container keeping the solids bin from getting too wet and making them look for a way to not drown, they should be happy. Or at least that's been my experience over 6 years now. My husband and I live in a tiny house that we named Lilliput and we are interested in your use of worms in your (looks like a nature's head?) composting toilet. I used to do vermiculture composting with red wrigglers, but I am curious to know how it could work in our toilet, and if there are any modifications that need to be made in order for them to thrive and not start unhappily migrating out at night, which I am sure would turn my husband off (and since I love love love worms, I want to keep him as happy as possible with the idea). My email is tumbletable@gmail.com. I am fortunate that I am working (from home as I have for 35 years as a computer programmer) and that I live rurally with the ability to get out normally with my dog … AND my cat who loves to come with us. And I tend toward solitude … BUT, last week I struggled with feeling distracted to the point that I did not get work or some chore stuff on my "list" done. I've been a bit mystified seeing as how I should be in a very good position to keep on, keeping on. At any rate, reading a few things, I decided to set myself a very RIGID schedule vs my normal flex schedule: utilizing phone alarms and timers and written lists. I'm 3 days in and that has helped me get back on track which contributed greatly to my mental well being and better sleep! So that sounds great!

Well, most of the year he stays very clean just because our whole world is frozen and snow covered, and that's pretty clean. :) In the summer he seems to just shed dirt off on his own. English Shepherds are kind of known for having "teflon like" coats that dirt doesn't really stick to and he really seems to fit that description. He does have his own towel so if he's really wet he can get a little towel dry when we come in, but that's pretty rare.
