Tiny house in the big woods

This morning when I left for work just after 5 am, this was what my little house looked like. About 8+ inches of heavy snow fell overnight here and it was still dumping when I pulled out and took these shots.

  3. I do like simpler times, but they are also more work. I don't mind this, but it is true.

  4. I am very interested in the tiny house movement. It would give me much needed financial freedom. However, I am not an off grid kinda gal... this is the exact floor plan I want, but I might add a washer/dryer combo. My problem is finding somewhere to park it. This is the only thing holding me back, but when I try to ask around... I get a glazed over look. Can anyone help?

    1. This is probably the hardest thing. I very much wish that it was truly legal to live in them in more areas. I think that would make it way easier for many people. Good luck.

    2. i have a 12x18, back "bedroom" is12x8. not off grid, all conveniences, elec, sewer, well water. on Left of bedroom is fully tiled bathroom with sink, toilet & whole room is shower with drain in floor, like a boat, or european bathroom. shower head pointed straight down so most of bathroom stays dry ! after it is a 27" wide closet with an apt sized 24"w stacked washer/dryer. but i mostly air dry stuff outside, so stuff is stored in the dryer. then i made a 10" deep shoe rack in front of the washer, as high as the washer - i have a lot of shoes. & a clothes bar on top in front of the dryer. if i want to access the dryer i simply pushed the clothes aside. future = storage shelve above dryer. on the other side of the bedroom "aisle" is the bed. currently a double/twin bunk, but future = ikea hack, dresser underneath the bed w a step up. too old to be climbing up to a loft

  5. My wife and I just happened to see you on You Tube as we are going through your area next year on our way to Alaska before we get any older. My question after seeing your blog is how do you manage in and out of your area in a van? Seems a 4 wheel drive might be a necessity for you. In any case we enjoyed your Video, well done, very well spoken and explained. Best,

    1. My van is all wheel drive, was lifted a few inches by the previous owner, and with good all season tires, does a stellar job in the snow. :)
