Smoky Skies

Thankfully we aren't burning up here (yet at least) but I think we have most of the smoke from all the fires west if us here hanging out in our valley right now. It's hard to breath, my nose is burning, and things only a few hundred feet away look hazy. You can't see the nearest hills, much less the mountains!

Sunsets through the trees are very orange.

And sunrise looks like sunset. I hope we get a breeze to blow it away or maybe some rain to wash the air clean. But I don't think either of those are in the forecast for a while...

  1. Last time we had "Fire Storms" out here, and the ash was raining down on Downtown Riverside, California where I live, I would wrap a damp cotton scarf around my mouth and nose if I had to go outside. 2 or 3 yards of cotton sport knit has often saved me from an asthma attack on bad air days like that.

    1. Wow. At least we don't have ash right now! But since it's almost never hot here, no one has AC either, so there's no way to filter the air inside or out unless I just sit in my van with it's ac running. And the smoke is even worse this morning. It's really tough to breath and my nose is running and everything feels raw. But I'm not sure I can function with cloth wrapped around my nose 24/7.

  2. Is there any way you can get hold of some medical face masks? Hoping the air is starting to clear there--be sure to keep us informed as to how you are doing.
