Chocolate, Reading, and Snowfall

I'm curled up on my couch eating this amazing chocolate bar. That's my dessert after a dinner of a Thai dish with noodles, steak strips, and home grown veggies with a good friend. And yes, even with temps in the twenties, snow on the ground, and snow coming down right now, I still picked fresh herbs and even the last of my brussel sprouts out from under the snow and they were all quite tasty. I can't believe it's almost the middle of November and I can still eat fresh veggies from under the snow! And did I mention there are flakes falling from the sky right now? I love watching it snow. And I love my tiny house.

P.S. I'm not really into "seasonal flavors" and all, but after buying this chocolate bar for a friend and getting a taste of it, I wanted more just because this is an amazing flavor combination! Oh yeah, and because I just love good dark chocolate in general.....

Now to work on this stack of books and dream about planting next spring. All from the library or a friend. One of my favorite things about the fact that it is winter now is more time do do things like read. Which I also love doing. I hope you are all having an equally lovely evening!

  2. So cozy and calming. And we love Mel Bartholomew! His Square Foor Gardening gave us a wonderful summer gardening with his methods. He had a PBS show we watched that year in California. Enjoy!

  3. what happens when you can not climb that ladder in your old age or when you have a cold or the flu how do you manage and were do you rest . the idea is wonderful but honestly I lived in a 400 sq studio when I was younger and after a wile I could not take the feeling of climbing the walls I just can not see living day in and day out in 200 sq feet I guess it takes a very certain person.

    1. Hello "Unknown." It is great that you had the opportunity to live a smaller lifestyle and decide that it was not for you. Many people feel as you do. On the other hand, from all that Ariel has shared, her lifestyle does suit her very well. We all make many changes throughout our lives and likely cannot predict what those changes may be, what our preferences will be over time. In the meantime, hopefully we are lucky enough to enjoy where we are right now, in this moment. It sounds like you are, and that's wonderful.

    2. Well as I am 28 right now, my old age is a little way away I think. And in the mean time, this staircase works for my life now. Sure I might have to do something different sometime, but that's fine. And colds and flues haven't kept me from being able to go up my stairs yet. And the space hasn't bothered me yet. Again, maybe it will sometime. But then I can do something different if I want. That doesn't make it the perfect situation for everyone, but for now, I'm pretty happy.

  4. Ariel, if you like that Arno chocolate, you might look up the Taza Chocolate company out in Massachusetts. They make a very good line of fair-trade dark chocolate that is also gluten free and dairy free. We usually carry it where I work (currently out of stock until we can make another order) and it's become one of my favorites for hot cocoa (made with just cocoa beans and cane sugar) or just nibbling on (made with cocoa beans, cane sugar, and cocoa butter). I think their Toffee-Almond-Sea Salt bar is my favorite for eating. I can't decide what my favorite hot chocolate flavor is though. They do an 85% "Super Dark" chocolate, but I do like the Vanilla Chocolate, the Coffee Chocolate.... pretty much everything except their Cinnamon Chocolate (because I have a slight cinnamon allergy) and their Eggnog Chocolate (because I don't like eggnog). I'll just let you check their site out for yourself http://www.tazachocolate.com/

    1. I think I have either heard of or maybe tasted Taza chocolate before. I do love dark chocolate. Not chocolate milk so much since dairy doesn't sit very well in my stomach, but dark chocolate for sure!
