In Depth Kitchen Tour

Hey all! I'm still working on this video thing. So I just finished a full kitchen tour. Something I don't think I've ever done a real post on. Partially right now I'm working at turning some older blog content into a video format, but this is actually new content even for all you faithful blog readers!

P.S. You folks who actually read are my favorites! Don't tell anyone who's only on my youtube channel..... ;)

And so, just for you reader folks, what the weather looked like outside the day I shot this video! These swans were not far from my house, in the crazy heavy snow. Ah. Spring in my area!

  1. Hi, Ariel..

I just wanted to say that I don't usually come here to your blog because I receive your posts in my E-mail and I really like it that way. Silly, but I don't want to miss a thing!

    Take care!

  5. Wonderful work! Your blog has offered fantastic food for thought even if I might not find myself living in a similar setting now or ever. Thank you very much for writing and covering also (and especially) the mundane and unglamorous aspects of life with such honesty.

Are you already planning your garden for this year and do you anticipate it to produce a notable fraction of your food? Do you view it as a hobby you would be doing anyway and wouldn't want to have to depend on for food security or do you figure in the financial benefit versus time and effort?

That came out way wordier than I set out to say! Anyway, thanks again and all the best in your endeavours.

    1. Thank you! I am planning a big garden again and just itching to get started on it as soon as I have bare dirt! I hope to raise a high proportion of my food, but know that in this climate I can't count on the weather cooperating. For instance most things did not do well due to crazy temperature swings and many freezes through the summer. The year before, I got a lot of food.

For me it's some of both. I enjoy gardening and would probably do it either way. But I also count the benefit of good fresh chemical free produce as worth quite a bit of food and health care money. :)

  7. I haven't seen any posts where you go into detail on your actual kitchen appliances. Are your oven/fridge both standard 110 electric? or propane? both?

    1. Good idea. I'll try to do a post just on appliances. But in the mean time, the fridge is 110 electric and the stove/oven is propane.

  8. Dear Ariel, thank you so much for sharing your experiences and thoughts with us. What makes it so outstanding for me is that you can look back at a considerable time living in your tiny house. You talk and write about daily life, about adventures and encounters in front of your door step, then you added gardening and food, ... Your blog is so rich and i enjoy it very much whenever i read it.
I would like to hear your opinion regarding the layout of your kitchen and your bathroom. You said that you love to cook. Had it not been more convenient/practical to have the kitchen on both sides and the bathroom on one of the width sides of the house? I just wonder if you had more space to move around if the kitchen is not opposite the bathroom (lengthwise). And have you ever thought that you would have done this or that differently in the layout of your house?
Many thanks in advance and wonderful greetings from Limassol/Cyprus.

    1. Thanks! I actually tried really hard to figure out a setup that would let me put the bathroom across the end and have the kitchen on both sides, but still can not find a design that would work for the things I want to have and would allow that. I am still pretty happy with the layout and comfortable in my kitchen.
