Possible New Video Hosting Site?

Hey folks. Less fun stuff post here. For everyone wandering about videos, I've been playing around with other potential video hosting platform options. This one seems to work more of the time than most (as in from the upload end, it only glitches about half the time). I have a handful of videos there now and would be curious to hear feedback on how the viewing experience is for you all from the viewing end? Do they load and play smoothly on various devices? Is the quality and sound the same as you are used to for my videos? Is it easy to navigate and find things? Any other thoughts you have? https://www.brighteon.com/channel/fynyth

(For those who will ask, yes I've been trying to copy videos to BitChute too, and over the past 9 weeks, have not yet had a single one of 550+ videos successfully upload to their site though I have hundreds of failed tries.)

And, of course none of this changes anything about the FTC's stated goal of pursuing individual creators with massive fines over vague rules that could include
almost anything. They should be reviewing the 180,000 or so public comments they received but I have yet to see any update from them or clarification to their understanding of their regulations. If you have no idea what I'm talking about here, check out these last videos I did that cover all that in some detail.

But I'm still investigating possible options for the future. So, it would be helpful to me if you have the time to head over to  https://www.brighteon.com/channel/fynyth and watch one or two and let me know your thoughts!

  1. Had no issue watching videos but I'm not sure this is necessary. Live Simple, Live Free (formerly Tiny House Prepper) released an update stating the FTC has clarified they're not going to go after family friendly channels.

    1. Thanks for the feedback! I did see that video and understand the fellow feels less concerned. But the FTC has actually changed nothing about the wording of their rules they are promulgating so far. Which leaves almost everyone publishing videos a criminal according to them right now. They may not chose to pursue everyone right now, but all it takes is someone sitting down at a desk and changing their mind that morning for that to change. Unless they actually fix the wording to have some clarity.

  2. Just watched the four year anniversary video. No real issues. It was a little pixelated at the start for a few seconds. ( thats probably our internet ) other then that it's fine. Picture and sound is fine.

  3. I watched Tiny House Cooking - Sardine Lunch, on a laptop computer. The video quality and sound quality were good, the video ran smoothly. Too bad about your problems with Bitchute.

    1. Thanks for the feedback! Best wishes with the decisions you have to make. I was really hoping to see some wording clarification from the FTC, but nothing so far.

  6. I just watched your 16" snowfall one (not sure if that's from this year or last) and it ran smoothly for me. So impressed and proud of your stand on the FTC idiocy. . keep it up! Looks like I am going to have to sign up for this channel. Oh, btw, your fast-speed shoveling made me think that you resemble an automaton snowblower: an Ariel! So glad to "see" you again and looking well.

  7. I just watched two videos on a laptop. It worked well, the videos loaded, no hiccups, sound quality as usual. The first video was slightly blurry at first, the rest of the video was fine though. The second video was fine from the beginning. Greetings and all the best to you from Germany.

  9. They work fine on my end. Video and sound are fine. Also I like the way they categorize topics. Do you still get compensated for your videos like YouTube?

  10. Short answer.. brighteon is a nice platform. solid playback, easy to use
    - technically the fcc should apply anywhere, but they follow the money so brighteon isn't worth their trouble. When creating an account, Brighteon does not ask for an age. Other than verifying an email address it is a fairly anonymous process.
    - their viewer basically works well, but kind of annoying that the volume starts off at 100% for each video
    - also nit-picky is when I click on a link in the video description, it doesn't simply open a new tab. It reuses the same tab to go to say, the amazon wish list. Then when you navigate back the video resets to start at the beginning. You don't want things like this to mess with the playback of your video.
    - They have a 'linux' mind set, which is easily cured. If they are serious about being a video platform they can easily make improvements and enhancements to fix some of these issues that are low hanging fruit.

    1. Thanks for the feedback! Yes, as I tried to clarify, a different platform doesn't fix the FTC problem at all. Though the FTC did tell me they were not considering anyone in violation if they weren't getting any money. Which I don't see anywhere in their rules, but that's what they told me. This is more the process of finding a backup option should the FTC problem get resolved, but there still be issues with Youtube as a platform. Like randomly deleting my channel as has happened to others I like. Just exploring options!

  12. My old Kindle Fire cannot play a video at all on Brighteon even though it is fine with YouTube. My newer Kindle Fire can play them, but the picture quality is not as good as YouTube. The sound was fine. I just want more of your cooking and Burley videos.

    1. Thanks for the feedback! Just in case anyone thinks I agree with or like everything else shared on any platform I've ever used, let me assure you that I think 99% of all of it is ridiculous, dumb, or wrong. :)

  18. Hi Ariel! The video image quality was not very good for me. I tried a few videos and some were better than others. Maybe it's a combination of the site and being in Australia (we have terrible internet here). I agree with Uncle Warren, I didn't like that a lot of the videos that popped up on Brighteon were pro-Hitler, pro- white supremacy and hate speech videos.

That being said - Thank you for continuing to spend your precious time looking for possible options for the future. Your constant willingness to share your knowledge and contribute something useful to other people is admirable. I think I can say, whatever the decision you make everyone is grateful for all you do!
