Thanks in large part to all of you, this photo won that contest I mentioned! Folks were asking me for the results, but the entry and then judging deadlines were such that I just got them myself. And this photo is the winner! Thank you very much to all of you who gave it a vote so it made it into the judge's consideration. The prize for this competition was a year's free subscription to the website that I use to host my photo sales. This is a bit off the normal topics of tiny house life, gardening, cooking, off grid life, etc. but at least some of you know that another of my passions is wildlife photography. Occasionally though someone will suggest that I make photos available for sale, so apparently not everyone knows that they already are! :) And this prize is wonderful because it's allowing me to keep that as an option for now. Go check it out at https://arielcelestephotography.zenfolio.com !
I love being able to share the glimpse of beautiful wildlife and nature that I am able to see and capture. Though I was considering dropping that option. I try to keep the various printing options reasonably priced so most people who care to could enjoy glimpses of nature in their own homes. Did you know that even looking at nature pictures seems to improve human health according to a study by the National Health Institute? (https://www.sciencealert.com/just-looking-at-photos-of-nature-could-be-enough-to-lower-your-work-stress-levels) And I do sell a few prints, but after the cost to actually print the photo and ship it to you, the profit that comes to me every year has been less than it costs to keep the site that makes that possible. So.... I was considering just dropping the option since it seems a little dumb for it to be actually costing me money out of my pocket.
But I love being able to provide the option for others to add the natural beauty of the natural world to their homes and lives through photos. So thanks to your assistance with winning this contest so the site will remain for at least another year!
If you've never checked it out before, or weren't even aware that I enjoy wildlife and nature photography, here's a taste of a few of my favorite shots over the years. I feel very fortunate to be surrounded by beautiful landscapes and wildlife and love being able to share a peek into that world for those who don't have the same opportunity. From fleeting glimpses of wild creatures to beautiful landscapes. Some of which require days to walk to, decades of waiting and observation to see, getting out well before daylight, or many hours of holding still in the cold. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
Check out lots more photos over at https://arielcelestephotography.zenfolio.com and then click on "View All Photos" to find them sorted by topic or kind of wildlife. New shots are added regularly as I'm always pursing new photographs. Thanks again for all your support!
Congratulations!

ReplyDeleteYou have an eye to capture the wild of the wilderness in your photos. I am so glad your photo won; what an honor. Keep up the passion.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Ariel, I think talking about photography does fit in with living in a tiny house. Its part of the lifestyle you have and it shows that living small means having the time to do what you love. I am so inspired by your posts and you have encouraged me to think more about how much stuff do I need. I have started down sizing and looking at tiny houses. The problem for me is where ca I put a tiny house. Please keep taking pics. Cheers Kim
ReplyDeleteLovely! Best wishes as you pursue your dreams!
DeleteCongratulations
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteCongrat's Ariel... that's awesome. My father was a professional photographer for over 50 years, and through him I learned to have an eye for great photo's. I knew that you had that wonderful talent, and your photo's are over the top. Again.. congrat's. 💟
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Ariel! That is definitely an award winning picture. I have been quite busy and have not visited your blog in a couple of weeks so this was a wonderful come back. I hope that you and Burley are doing well. How much snow do you have in your neck of the woods? :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks! We are great. Still quite a bit in most areas, about 3 feet deep in the flat parts of my yard.
DeleteTruly delighted and excited for you Ariel, you are an exceptional talented young lady, congratulations

ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!! Your photos are amazing.
ReplyDeleteDear Ariel, Congratulations!!! In our world gone mad, with media assistance. Paranoia over TP it is so good to be exposed to normal. You are my touchstone for my love of nature. Thank-You for your life, attitude and your willingness to share it. Cathy M.
ReplyDeleteAww I'm so glad if I can provide a bit of a break in that way!
DeleteI like the porcupine's pose.
ReplyDelete:) Funny critters aren't they?
DeleteThere were so many great photos in the contest, and when I saw your request I thought it would be a long shot to win. But I loved the photo and I voted!! I'm so happy for you, and that you will be able to continue sell your photos and profit from it. My best to you and Burley.
ReplyDeleteI did too to be honest. There are a lot of wonderful photographers out there. Thank you very much!
DeleteWoo Hoo!! Many Congratulations!... is that particular photo on your site for sale?
ReplyDeleteIt is! You can find it on the page of Tiny House photos - https://arielcelestephotography.zenfolio.com/p916312820
DeleteYour photo is really lovely and it shurely deserved the first prize. You also have a very nice writing style, deeply rooted in the American tradition of nature and self reliance literature. Your off-grid life is not for for me though. I'd be scared of those lonely cold nights with bears around and a broken heater! Thank you for doing what you do, so I can have fun reading about it. Greetings from Brazil.
ReplyDeleteIt's always lovely to hear that others enjoy the reading and seeing parts of my life. I hope you're having a wonderful day!
