Tiny House Cooking Series

Ok folks. Here's the start to a new tiny house related project I am working on. Tiny House Cooking videos. Since I've had a lot of requests for what I cook, how I do it, and what's possible in a tiny house, I will attempt to answer all those things over time.

Check out the introduction first.

And then here is the first actual cooking video I have compleated.

I hope to be able to add new videos to the cooking series on a regular basis as time allows.

And here's a brief sampling of a few of the many meals that have already happened in Fy Nyth's kitchen. Enjoy!

Fresh Snow

After a few weeks of warmer weather and rain, I got a little new snow overnight. Most of the new stuff melted already, but it was really pretty, clean, and white for a bit.

Plus I saw this eagle up really close the other day! Enjoy your spring everyone!

Welcome Spring!

What the first day of spring looks like around here! The shrinking but still massive snow banks are not very spring like, but the bare patches in the yard are nice to see.

And I have some daffodils sprouting as well at the start of some green chives coming back in my planters around the house!

And... I have some pretty famous tiny house guests visiting, along with their house! Who needs a guest room in a tiny house when tiny house friends come visit with their own house? ;)

Happy spring everyone!

In Depth Kitchen Tour

Hey all! I'm still working on this video thing. So I just finished a full kitchen tour. Something I don't think I've ever done a real post on. Partially right now I'm working at turning some older blog content into a video format, but this is actually new content even for all you faithful blog readers!

P.S. You folks who actually read are my favorites! Don't tell anyone who's only on my youtube channel..... ;)

And so, just for you reader folks, what the weather looked like outside the day I shot this video! These swans were not far from my house, in the crazy heavy snow. Ah. Spring in my area!

March Snow Depth Comparison

Just for a quick comparison of the snowpack on different years, here's my house in the three Marches since I moved in. The dates are as close to each other as I have photos from. The first shot was obviously before I stained the exterior and when I was parked right below where I am now living. It was taken March 24th, 2015. Some snow, but not very deep.

The second photo is from March 12th, 2016. Lots of bare dirt, but some sizable snow banks remaining as well.

And lastly, today. March 7th, 2017. Despite some melting and shrinking from their greatest depth, you can barely even see my house! The mountains just to the north have recorded 513 inches of snow as of this morning and it's been snowing all day. The mountains just south of my house are at 211% of normal snowpack.

Quoting our local weatherman, "The long-term average precipitation in Jackson is 1.14 inches in February. The old record February precipitation was 2.83 inches in 1962. This February was extraordinary for its precipitation, with a total of 5.62 inches as of Feb. 25. I suspect a little more will be added to that number by month’s end. That now ranks February 2017 as the fourth wettest month in Jackson climate history..."

It truly is a crazy winter, even for this wintery location!
