Fy Nyth's new sink

Due to a mixup, my house arrived with the wrong sink. (The builders have been great about covering everything with remedying this.) I cook a lot, and use my sink frequently as a result. And only having one basin is a problem. Finally the new one is in place. Above is the original one, and below is the hole once it was pulled out.

The new sink waiting to go in, and the enlarged hole ready to receive it.

Making space to add the second drain for the second sink basin.

Working at getting it to fit snugly.

It's in!

Getting the plumbing to line up and drain properly.

And the finished result.

It's been filled many times already, and clean up and dish washing are much more convenient. I love it! I'm sure it will continued to be used heavily and on a daily basis. Plus by observing I was able to learn a lot about how a sink is installed. More things I didn't know.

  1. Where did you find a sink with the drain board?? I'd love to find a (large) single basin with drain board. Thanks!!

    1. It is from Ikea. Here's a link. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S99847467/ I am very happy with mine, and it was considerably less expensive than anything similar I was able to find. If you check their site for other sinks, in the same line, they have a model that might be what you are looking for.

  2. What type of cupboard option did you go with Tumbleweed for your kitchen?

  3. This is exactly the sink I would get! Thanks for showing where to get it and how it fits into your mini house! A good kitchen is on the top of my priorities... :)

  4. It’s good to know that you managed to replace it right away. Having no sink to do the dishes could be a real hassle. That being said, the sink looks great! It is quite big, which is great for accommodating a lot of dishes or cooking implements for prep work or cleaning after. Thanks for sharing this with us, Ariel. Have a great day!

  5. Me, too! I prefer this double sink because it could possibly make your work easier, given that it can accommodate more dishes than the usual. And since the pipes are installed properly, the risk of clogs and hassle are less. Thanks for sharing this, Ariel! Cheers!

  7. Getting a double sink is really a good choice. Aside from the greater number of dishes it can carry, you'll also be more diligent in working there, because of the wider space. Hahaha! In any way, I hope that your new sink has been serving you great. Thanks for sharing that, Ariel! All the best to you!

  8. Two basin sinks are necessary for any kitchen, especially when you do a lot of cooking at home. Otherwise, it’s just too hard to organize your clean and dirty dishes, and you’ll always be lacking space. The finished result looks much better than the original, and was well worth the wait and messy installation.
