Outdoor Hang Out

I've got a pretty sweet spot to hang out outside of my house now. Complete with a fire ring as of yesterday, a swing, recliners, small tables, and some citronella candles to keep it all bug free!

Just waiting to have a fire some lovely evening.

It's got a great view of my house and garden. I've already enjoyed sitting here to talk to friends, watch kids play, read or write, and enjoy some food.

Also, my little neighboring nest's occupants are growing feathers so fast, I'm sure they will be leaving soon!

  1. What an awesome outdoor arrangement. I can imagine how much you and your guests enjoy it. I keep getting this vision in my head of some fun local furry critters having a party out there one night. Probably a reflection of reading too much Winnie the Pooh as a child. Cheers, Ardith

    1. Actually that's probably a reality here. ;) There are lots of little furry critters. I'm sure some of them hang out there at times at night.

  2. Looks wonderful!!! So "refreshing" and relaxing! I can imagine drinking my morning coffee there or watching the stars come out at night there. Thanks again too for keeping up on such an awesome blog - I enjoy reading about your beautiful space and "adventures" big and small!

  3. So many thoughts I've had with your last three posts! First, the moose experience is awesome! I read your post to my sister over the phone and shared it among my family at home. All agree that this is a wonderful story. I wonder if he may visit again?
Second, I was surprised with your fence because when you mentioned in an earlier post that you would be fencing and I imagined something just around the garden plot. Wow! You get to work and make a fence all around your clearing. I am curious about the actual fencing material. It is nearly invisible in the photos but obviously the moose wasn't going to try to walk thru it so it must be pretty strong and tall.
Third, your video and garden photos are wonderful. I always enjoy seeing the growth (and the little nuthatches too.)
Finally, who doesn't love a fire and a swing! Ariel, your blog and you are such a joy to follow.

    1. I think it's highly likely I'll see him again. I know he (and probably other moose, as well as deer, elk, etc) come by regularly thanks to seeing their tracks. I just don't always get to see them as they all prefer to be a bit private.

Well I started with the plan to just fence the individual stuff. Because my wildlife was starting to eat my fruit trees. But once I started, I realized it was going to be easier to go around the whole perimeter (my little clearing here is only about 1/2 an acer) than to do that. It actually would have required more fence to go around the garden, each tree, and each berry bush. The fence is something like what is shown here. http://www.deerbusters.com/heavy-duty-deer-fence/ I did not buy mine as it was leftover from a friend's place, but this link looks like the same stuff.

And thank you. My little birdies all flew the nest a day or so ago which is great, but I kinda miss getting to peek in at them!
